of one of Paris' liveliest neighborhoods, the apartment is just steps away from the Moulin Rouge, Montmartre and
Sacré Coeur, and just 1 km away from the Grands Magasins (Galleries Lafayette and Printemps department
stores) and the opulent Opera Garnier. This fourth-floor apartment with an elevator has a spacious open-concept
living area, incorporating a spacious living room, kitchen, and dining area -- all of which overlook rue Fontaine
Enjoy free international phone calls to most countries, WiFi Internet access and cable television - including a few
news channels in English. On the back side of the apartment, you'll find the master bedroom, with a high-quality
queen bed and a large closet. Enjoy the private balcony off the master bedroom for an afternoon drink or
romantic dinner. The bathroom is modern and beautifully designed -- including both a clothes washer and tumble
In the Neighborhood
Just two blocks south of the Moulin Rouge, you'll find the neighborhood lively in some directions, quiet in others,
so let your spirit of adventure guide you and dive in!
If you're a "foodie," you'll have several choices: Head straight north up rue Lepic and stock up on fresh food
on this charming street made famous by the movie "Amelie," or head east a few blocks and you'll be at the top of
rue des Martyrs, a fabulous shopping street described in a 2005 New York Times article as "a slice of village life"
that will "satisfy that perennial desire for discovery." Let your taste buds lead the way and find your
neighborhood favorites.
If you love chocolate, don't miss Denise Acabo's acclaimed (and adorable!) chocolate shop just up the street
from the apartment, L'Etoile d'Or. Unlike many sterile chocolate shops in Paris, you'll find her store overflows with
warmth and never fails to delight visitors and locals with her array of sweets. A great stop for gifts to bring back
home, too. Our pick: Try the chocolate-covered beurre sale caramels if you want a little taste of heaven or pick up
a few Bernachon chocolate bars.
If you're traveling with kids, two small neighborhood parks are nearby. Head downhill to the sweet little park
on the square at St. George or walk west on rue de Douai to play on the jungle gym and sandbox at Square
Berlioz.
Hop on the Métro
Your closest stop is Blanche on Métro line 2, but just a quick walk downhill is the St.George stop on Métro
line 12. The 2 line heads west before curving south to the Champs Élysées. In the other direction, it drops you
at the foot of Pére Lachaise cemetery. The 12 line heads north to romantic Montmartre or south to the Musée
D'Orsay and the chic seventh arrondissement.
Don't Miss the Bus
Take the 68 bus south on a direct route to Galleries Lafayette, Printemps and the Opéra Garnier, across the river
and to a stop that drops you within yards of Musée d’Orsay. Or, try the 74 bus, which makes it easy to get to
sites in the old center of the city, including Notre Dame and the trendy Marais. Pick it up near
the Moulin Rouge and take it to the steps of Hôtel de Ville and the very worthwhile BHV department store.
Meet the Owners
Tom and Ann purchased this apartment for themselves as a second home, planning to split time between their
home in Switzerland and Paris. But as time passed, they realized they weren't using the apartment as often as
they'd hope and hence decided to share it with travelers from around the globe. They have lovingly renovated
every inch of this apartment and hope you find it a great place to come home to while exploring Paris.
