A Frenchy Rentals apartment will afford you many advantages, such as: much more space than a hotel room; the opportunity to prepare your own meals or bring home take-out; a better value for a family; a chance to establish yourself as a regular at your neighborhood bar, bistro or boulangerie; and handy appliances such as a clothes washer or dishwasher. Overall, an apartment will give you a more authentic, complete Paris experience, and allow you to live and enjoy Paris more like a local.

All the apartments have slightly lower rates than the full weekly rate for stays of less than one week. However, you should be prepared to pay a higher nightly rate than the weekly rate - the weekly rate is only pro-rated for stays of MORE than one week. In general, we find that stays of three nights or fewer are better suited to a hotel than an apartment.

Yes, someone is always on-call for emergencies in Paris. Once you have finalized your reservation of a Frenchy Rentals apartment, you will receive an arrival sheet with our Paris cell phone number on it. This is the main contact number that you will use during your stay in case of an emergency. All the apartments have phones which you can use to call us. We are also available by email for questions during your stay. There is also a "Welcome Book" inside every apartment with information on how to operate appliances, how to log on the Internet, etc. and also phone numbers for medical care, the police and fire department.
Not at all! Getting around Paris is easy, and public transportation in Paris is exceptional. Most tourists use the metro and forget about the bus, but all Frenchy Rentals apartments have excellent bus and metro connections nearby. If you like to walk and the weather is good, walking around Paris will probably be one of the greatest pleasures of your trip! You can walk to the Louvre from several of the French Rentals apartments in about 20-30 minutes.
It's also important to keep in mind that there is no single “central” location in Paris as far as we are concerned. If you stay by the Eiffel Tower, you are about 20 minutes away from Notre Dame Cathedral and the Latin Quarter, for example. Montmartre is no further from either of these points than they are from each other. There are discoveries to be had in every Paris neighborhood!
We suggest you spend your days enjoying all of Paris' beautiful monuments and museums and then return "home" to your own neighborhood to explore off the beaten path. This gives you the opportunity to experience Paris as both a tourist and a local.

These apartments are one bedroom apartments with an extra room. These rooms can generally be used as a second sleeping area, a study, a formal dining room or a family room.
No. In France, the ground floor is numbered "0" or called "rez-de-chaussee" or RDC. The first floor in France is up one flight of stairs - or what North Americans would call the second floor. The second floor is what North Americans would call the third floor, and it follows the same pattern all the way up.
All owners accept PayPal, which allows you to pay the apartment owner by credit card or bank transfer. All owners also accept bank transfers in Euros. When you request your apartment, we'll fill you in on the details and work together to find the best option. You can read more about paying for your apartment on the Reservation FAQ page on our site.
PayPal is a way for you to pay an apartment owner by credit card or direct debit from your bank, WITHOUT sharing any of your personal information with the owner. Apartment owners are just individuals, and without PayPal, they can't process your credit card payment. PayPal is secure and free for you. Please click here to read how PayPal works. We think PayPal offers a good service for both renters and owners, and normally makes payment easy for both parties.
Well, considering we live within a few blocks of most Frenchy Rentals apartments -- with several as close as around the corner -- we can say with authority that we feel safe in these neighborhoods! Paula has lived in both the 9th and 18th arrondissements and knows them well, both at day and night. But Paris is a big city, and everyone should take standard precautions, such as keeping your purse closed/zipped, wearing a money belt or, at a minimum, keeping your wallet in your front pocket. Violent crime is very rare, but pickpockets will take advantage of any easy target. Always stay alert to your surroundings, both on the street, at tourist attractions and on public transportation. And remember: iPhones and other smartphones are the most commonly stolen item from Parisians and tourists alike.
Your damage deposit will generally be returned to you the same way it was paid: via PayPal or via bank transfer within a few weeks after you have checked out. Frenchy Rentals will always inspect the apartment for damages, missing items, lost keys and for apartments left in excessively dirty condition. If any of these situations apply, it would result in charges being deducted from the damage deposit. You can read more about deposits on the Reservations FAQ page on our site.
No. Smoking is not allowed inside any of the Frenchy Rentals apartments.
The apartments on the site are named after the Parisian streets on which they are located.
Our Frenchy Rentals apartment owners are people just like you who happen to own an apartment in Paris. Most of them live in the US or UK. You can get to know them better by reading about them on the same page as their apartments.
We suggest you visit Paris Real Estate Finders and contact Darrell Halverson and Stephanie Freedman. They helped most of the Frenchy Rentals owners purchase their apartments, and their website is loaded with valuable information. If you speak French, we can also recommend a few local real estate agents who we've come to know and trust over the years.
