You’ll find all the essential elements of a Parisian apartment here – the 19th century building with marble entry
and winding staircase. Inside, the foyer opens to a large salon, and gorgeous hardwood floors mesh with
decorative molding on the ceilings to create that perfect mood for a French vacation. Classic describes this
apartment perfectly, but classic doesn’t have to mean uncomfortable. Need an elevator to get to the fourth floor?
furnishings are new and were carefully chosen with comfort in mind, a welcome relief after a tiring day walking
around the city. The best part is waiting down the hall, where you will find two bedrooms that can only be
described as enormous when compared to most Parisian apartments. Even better, the master bedroom closet
features enough storage for several suitcases worth of clothing. There is even a closet in the second bedroom.
This apartment wraps around the building to offer several different views and is perfectly situated for people-
watching down the streets below. But it’s also tucked away from the neighborhood’s main boulevard. Start your
French vacation in classic style. Just don’t worry about missing your favorite things from home.
In the Neighborhood
Within a 10-minute walk, discover the wine and cheese shops, restaurants and market atmosphere of rue des
Martyrs, a fabulous shopping street described in a 2005 New York Times article as "a slice of village life" that will
"satisfy that perennial desire for discovery." If you would rather walk to the north, the same amount of time will
take you to the foot of Montmartre, the village known for the legendary artists who once called it home, and tiny,
picturesque streets that transport visitors imaginations to Paris' rich past. It’s always a treat to wander around,
visiting Sacre Coeur cathedral and the two remaining windmills perched up high on the hill.
If you're a Foodie, don't miss the weekly market on Friday that wraps around the park at Square d'Anvers,
about a two-minute walk from the apartment. It's an afternoon market beginning at 3:30 p.m. each Friday, so no
need to rise-and-shine early to get the best selection. Plan on a delicious evening meal at home that night!
If you're traveling with kids, make good use of the park with a children's play area just down the street at
Square d'Anvers. Parents can take a break on a bench and take in the view of Sacre Coeur while the kids work off
a little excess energy. And should you want to go to the much larger Jardin de Luxembourg across town, just
pick up the 85 bus and it will take you right to it! The merri-go-rounds at Place des Abbesses and Sacre Coeur
are also a hit with kids.
Hop on the Métro
Metro Line 2 at Anvers is about a three-minute walk way – far enough to be away from the hustle, bustle and
noise, but close enough to discover the rest of Paris with ease. The No. 2 line heads east to Père Lachaise
cemetery or west toward the Moulin Rouge and Champs Élysees, This apartment is also a 10-minute metro ride
from Gare de Nord (easy in and out if you're taking EuroStar) and the RER B, which races quickly toward Notre
Dame and to each of the city’s airports.
Don't Miss the Bus
The 85 bus line runs south to to the Louvre, across the river and into the popular Latin Quarter, perfect for
exploring the Pantheon and St. Germain-des-Prés. At the end of the line, step off and explore the Luxembourg
Gardens. At Place Pigalle – just one metro stop to the west – you can pick up the 67 bus, the Montmartre bus
and the 30 bus. The 67 is a scenic line heading south to the Louvre. The Montmartre bus is perfect for tourists,
navigating the tiny streets of Montmartre. The 30 bus makes East-West travel easy. It runs west along Parc de
Monceau and through the trendy Batignolles before stopping at the edge of the Arc de Triomphe.
Meet the Owners
After residing in Paris for more than three years with their three young children, American expats Daryl and
Cheryl carefully chose this apartment for two reasons: the desire to share their love of Parisian living with other
travelers and as a their family's Parisian getaway once they move from France. Having lived and traveled
extensively throughout the world, they learned first-hand what most tourists and families look for in a vacation
rental: a big living space on a quiet street with modern conveniences and easy access to a variety of activities.
They invite other families to stay for a while and discover the hidden gems in the neighborhood. They hope you
enjoy your Parisian experience as much as they have enjoyed their own stay here.
