About the Apartment
A bright, compact, two bedroom apartment excellent for families traveling on a budget, or couples wanting to spread out! This apartment sleeps up to 5 guests in three different rooms on the 5th floor with a balcony (6th floor to North Americans) in a building with an elevator.
The apartment features three rooms with three beds, making the apartment very flexible in terms of accommodating different configurations of guests. A hallway running through the middle of the apartment ensures everyone can have easy access to the kitchen, shower room, and separate WC (toilet room).
On one side of the apartment is the main living/dining area and the master bedroom - both facing a quiet courtyard with tranquil views of the Halle St. Pierre and the small park above Place St. Pierre. The master bedroom features a large double bed comfortable for two adults, along with a chest of drawers, reading lamps and a radio.
The main living/dining area is also on this same side of the apartment as the master bedroom, with a door connecting the two. The living area has a selection of Paris guidebooks and many reading books, a CD player/radio, and a extendable dining table suitable for 6 guests. This room also has a comfortable sofa which converts into a large single bed.
Across the hallway is the bright second bedroom with balcony, which features a large leather sofa which converts into a deluxe, top-of-the-line sofabed which is as comfortable as a "real" bed and suitable for two adults. This room also has a large closet, extra seating, a TV, DVD player with a selection of DVDs, and a small stereo with a collection of CDs. This room can be used a second living area or lounge for guests when not in use as a bedroom.
But of course the star of this room is the wonderful balcony, which is accessed by French doors. The balcony offers rooftop views and a little slice of Sacre Coeur, plus a table and chairs for enjoying the sunshine, a glass of wine, or even breakfast on Parisian summer morning. People watching on the street below can be entertaining, too!
The compact kitchen is off the main hallway of the apartment, and fully equipped with a gas stove and full-sized electric oven, dishwasher, clothes washer, refrigerator, electric water kettle, coffee maker, toaster and all the necessary pots, pans and dishes and utensils for cooking. You'll even find basic cooking spices and condiments!
The bathroom is at the end of the hallway, and features a shower and sink/vanity area. The WC (toilet room) is in its own separate room, also off the main apartment hallway.
This apartment features WiFi Internet access and a telephone with free international calls to many countries, including the US, Canada, Australia, and many others. The television has some English news channels available, and many cable channels in French. All windows are double-glazed and have exterior metal shutters for blocking out the light.
We think you'll find this apartment to be an excellent value for families and friends traveling together, and the weekly rate is also appropriately discounted for couples just wanting the extra space the apartment has to offer to spread out.
Welcome to the colorful village of Montmartre! This apartment is located near the Place St. Pierre at rue Steinkerque, literally at the foot of the Sacre Coeur basilica. But don't worry, you'll be high above the hustle and bustle, up on the 5th floor (6th floor to North Americans) in a building with an elevator! Sit on the balcony and have a glass of while while watching the world go by below, or take in the lovely view of Sacre Coeur! With rue des Abbesses just up the street, you can take advantage of the wonderful cafe life around Place des Abbesses.
If you're traveling with kids, make good use of the park with a children's play area just down the street at Square d'Anvers. Parents can take a break on a bench and take in the view of Sacre Coeur while the kids work off a little excess energy. And should you want to go to the much larger Jardin de Luxembourg across town, just pick up the 85 bus and it will take you right to it! The merri-go-rounds at Place des Abbesses and Sacre Coeur are also a hit with kids.
For food shopping, the Dia supermarket is just around the corner on rue d'Orsel, and it provides all the basics you'll need during your stay. You can also head down to Boulevard de Rouchechouart to shop at the large, modern Carrefour supermarket. For fresh food shopping, head to rue des Martyrs - about a 5-minute walk - and walk down this wonderful shopping street where you'll find all kinds of goodies: chocolate, wine, cheese, meat - don't miss the Corsican shop with charcuterie! On Fridays, head downhill to the park at Place d'Anvers and you'll find the weekly fresh food market which begins at 3:30 p.m. For a little clothing shopping, you'll find lots of great boutiques on rue des Abbesess and also a few cute independent places on rue d'Orsel, too.

About the Owners
John, who’s English, and Laura, "une vraie Parisienne," bought this apartment over ten years ago to be their “home away from home” when visiting from London. Montmartre was the arrondissement of Paris John knew best and Laura had friends living nearby so it was natural they looked in the area. Like any other quarter of any other great city, Montmartre changes over time but still retains the feel of a village. They hope you enjoy their home as much as they do!
