About the Apartment
Tucked away on a quiet street in the village of Montmartre in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, this charming one-bedroom apartment makes the perfect home base for couples or families for your Parisian holiday.
The apartment is located in lovely Parisian 19th century residential building. Walk less than 15 minutes to the Sacre Coeur basilica, and along the way enjoy cafes, restaurants and boutiques which abound in this typically Parisian neighborhood. For families, you can walk to the neighborhood park at Square Carpeaux in less than 2 minutes, and we will happily provide a baby travel crib for you as well - just ask!
Tall French windows in the living room and bedroom open from this bright flat onto the building’s inner courtyard, eliminating street noise. Recent renovations have transformed the space into a cozy, inviting haven that will be a peaceful retreat after a long day of sightseeing. Everything has been carefully chosen to best accommodate our guests.
The spacious master bedroom is furnished with a king-sized bed. A decorative corner fireplace adorns the bedroom. A large armoire provides plenty of space to store your belongings.
The living room has a high-quality sofa bed, which offers families versatility, converting either into two single beds or to one double bed.
The wall-to-wall bookcase opposite the sofa holds a DVD player and flat screen TV and plenty of books and DVDs to browse through. The TV has cable television with a few international news channels in English. The storage unit in the bookcase also provides additional space for those sleeping in the living to store their belongings.
If you're here to work or study or just want to catch up with friends and family back home, you can easily stay connected via the internet with our high-speed connection on our Mac computer or use your own computer or phone to connect wirelessly.
A small dining area separates the living room from the kitchen. The table can be expanded on both sides to give plenty of room to happy diners. There are four chairs available for the dining table.
Our custom-built open kitchen is classy and efficient, with a granite countertop workspace. The kitchen includes a refrigerator with freezer area, two burner stove, clothes washer, and a combination oven/microwave.
Off of the living room area is a small-yet-functional bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink with a mirror. It's a truly Parisian experience to see how we adapt small spaces. The apartment shower has hot water on demand and good water pressure.
For foodies, this is a perfect neighborhood in which to go shopping “à la française”. Visiting the cheese shop, the butcher and the green grocer is French tradition! But don't worry - you'll find plenty of modern supermarkets, too. The apartment’s location is within a short distance of rue Damremont’s boutiques, “fromageries” (cheese shops), “boulangeries” (bakeries), and “patisseries” (pastry shops). It's also a quick walk to Avenue de St. Ouen’s daily outdoor food market, and the weekly market on rue Ordener. Whether you choose to prepare your meals yourself or to partake of the many restaurant offerings, you can be sure to find your heart’s desire in this neighborhood.
For families, there is a park less than a two-minute walk from the apartment at Square Carpeaux! Your children will be happy to have space to run and play at any time of the day. There is a large sandbox as well as playground equipment for younger children. You'll also find ping pong tables, a basketball court and plenty of benches for relaxing in the sun or shade.
Parisian life greets you in every direction! Visit the local wine shop and green grocer, fish monger, cheese shop, florist and even Chinese take-out -- just a quick walk to rue Damremont. Rue Damremont is also home to a wonderful award-winning bakery, Delmontel. For simpler needs, you'll find a Franprix supermarket at the corner of rue Joseph de Maistre and rue Marcadet, another Frnaprix on rue Damremont and rue Lamarck, and the new Carrefour Express, also on rue Damremont, which is open late - even on Sundays!
For more fresh food choices, head to Avenue de Saint Ouen for a full market street open daily, or try the twice-a-week market on rue Ordener near rue Championet. Don't forget to try the boulangerie on the corner of rue Ordener and rue Montcalm - winner of the 2012 best baguette in Paris!

About the Owners
After living in Paris for three years with her two daughters, Barbara and her husband deided to buy a pied-a-terre so they could return regularly. Lively Montmartre was an easy choice! Barbara loves being close to the Sunday market on Avenue St. Ouen and the excellent cheese shop and green grocers there. For weekday croissants, she prefers the bakery on the corner of Carpeaux and Lamarck, but for a special treat, she suggests Patisserie Vaudron at 4 rue La Jonquiere, near Guy Moquet.
Barbara enjoys the ease of this neighborhood, with everything close at hand. Once a week, she enjoys a Thai massage at Siam Lanna at 95 rue Lamarck. She enjoys lunch at Les Sapeurs on the corner for a good value, and on Friday nights, she walks around the corner on rue Etex to Le Tropicale for live music and a light supper. Barbara also recomments Wepler at Place Clichy, a classic, historic restaurant for fresh oysters and seafood, and she always eat at least once at Bistrot Melrose.
