The Batignolles neighborhood is a village-like area of Paris, located in the 17th arrondissement. While previously unknown to tourists, after several articles in the New York Times, it's become more well-known as a young, friendly, family-oriented pocket of Paris. You have a collection of wonderful bistros and bakeries, two fresh food markets (the daily Marché Batignolles food market & the weekly organic Marché Bio Batignolles on Saturday mornings), and two amazing yet completely different Parisian parks (Square de Batignolles & Parc Martin Luther King Jr.).
The immediate area around the Batignolles Market apartment on rue des Moines makes for a wonderful home base where you don't have to walk more than 5 minutes to have just about anything, be it a supermarket, the metro, a cheese shop, a butcher, a bar, a bakery or a bus stop. It's literally at your doorstop without any exaggeration!!
We hope you will explore and enjoy the Batignolles neighborhood in addition to the more obvious Parisian tourist sites...it's like two vacations in one!
You don't need to look any further than your doorstep! There is shopping all along rue des Moines, and directly across the street from the apartment is the Marche Batignolles (Batignolles Market), which has all sorts of wonderful French food items to purchase! From fresh fruits and vegetables to prepared foods to take home, you'll find it all!
Rue des Moines also has some fun restaurants to explore, such as Comme Chez Maman (hearty French) and Cucuzza (fresh Italian). Around the corner you'll find neighborhood hangouts such as Les Puces, which is great for a drink, lunch or Sunday brunch.

About the Owners
After completing university studies in French and computer science, Kathleen opted for employment opportunities where both skill sets could be put to use. The opportunity to live and work in Paris arrived when she was hired as part of a U. S. company’s startup operations. Though Scott originally hails from Michigan and Kathleen from Massachusetts, over time the couple was spending enough time outside the U. S. to warrant an investment, so they began searching for just the right Parisian neighborhood.
House-hunting priorities included proximity to friends and a comfortable distance from tourist mayhem. The very French neighborhood of the Batignolles proved the solution. With every imaginable option for dining and food shopping, plus convenient access to transportation, this corner of the 17th arrondissement never fails to further enrich their French experience.
“Thanks to our Batignolles home,” Kathleen says, “we can live like locals in one of the great cities of the world. We feel a part of a social matrix that has embraced us and affords us an intimate, unique perspective on this rich and fascinating culture.”
